NETWORK SUPPORT ANALYST (TEMPORARY HELP DESK)

Basic Function

To provide user assistance and administer Metros information systems, monitor network management systems, operate tape backup systems and initiate corrective action as required.

Example Of Duties

  • Works the Help Desk providing customer assistance on network resources including MS Office, Outlook, Internet/Intranet and other Metro-standard software
  • Resets network and application passwords and printer queues
  • Logs and assigns trouble tickets and work orders to corresponding work groups
  • Coordinates the resolution of computer processing problems between users, systems programming, applications programming, computer operations, and telecommunications staff
  • Responds to customer service surveys
  • Distributes pagers and cellular phones
  • Participates in the department's information security, disaster recovery, and safety programs
  • Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Requirements For Employment

  • 3 years' experience as a help desk technician or call center customer support representative
  • 3 years' advance experience with MS Office programs
  • Valid California Class C driver's license

Knowledge:

  • Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing information systems for a public agency
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Exchange/Outlook)
  • Help Desk procedures
  • File access concepts, procedures and commands
  • Good oral and written communications

Abilities:

  • Utilize Help Desk call tracking system
  • Prepare reports and correspondence and maintain accurate records
  • Analyze situations, identify problems, and recommend solutions
  • Interact professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives
  • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Perform training on software applications
  • Forecast production needs
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
