Assistant Manager - Medical Records

The Assistant Manager of Medical Records is responsible for directing the daily workload with regard to chart review, assembly, ROI, filming and coding activities. Assigns and coordinates workload with Director of Health Information Management.
Assist HIM Director in hiring, training, staff development and assessing workflow for Health Information Management Department. Provides staff training, in-service and monitoring as directed as well as provides feedback to staff regarding performance. Organizes and prioritizes assigned work, schedules time to accommodate work demands, turnaround time requirements and commitments. Functions as a leader to staff, including but not limited to prioritizing shift workload, personnel activities, and coordinating needs with other departments. Assists with workload backlog as needed in the department to keep processes flowing smoothly. Maintain the patient index by making appropriate entries as indicated and merging duplicate numbers with identified.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an acute hospital Health Information Management department preferred. Previous management experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
Level of Business Knowledge/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Medical terminology/Clerical/Customer Service required.
