In cooperation with the director of patient care, the Lab Manager ensures that the lab provides the highest quality lab services for the facility.
Performs administrative duties of supervision and coordination within the department and acts as liaison between the laboratory, other departments, administration and medical staff.
Is responsible for directing departmental activities, technologist staff and ancillary personnel.
Is responsible for maintenance of supplies and equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Evaluates laboratory services and maintains standards of quality. Is responsiblefor the direction of technologists and supporting personnel assigned with regardto schedules, work area and quality.
Evaluates and counsels employeesregarding performance, conduct, attendance and other related matters.
2.Mediates individual problems and refers to superior unresolved problemsrelating to staffing, scheduling, procedures and other actions regardingassigned personnel.
3.Participates in the in-service training programs of the department and facility and instructs in the demonstration of equipment. Keeps abreast of new procedures, equipment and methods; participates in their evaluation andapplication.

8.Must be able to perform all the functions of the MT/MLT position.
9.Policies and procedures meet current CLIA, federal and state standards.
10.Serves as a positive role model and teacher to staff.
11.Communication is effective in identifying and resolving problems and information is communicated in an accurate and timely manner.
12. Reviews stock levels and adjusts and orders supplies as indicated by workload.
13.Assures that appropriate maintenance of all lab equipment is conducted and documented according to established policies.
14.Actively participates in department managers meetings and other committees as requested.
15.Stays current with changes in hospital and laboratory environments and recommends changes to effectively position lab and hospital to meet these changes.
16.Sets professional and departmental goals for self and employees and develops plan of action to meet these goals.
17.Goals and action plans are written, reviewed with the CEO and implemented.
18.Reports are presented to the CEO, pathologist and medical staff monthly or as needed.
19. Actively promotes facility through in-house and external efforts.
Certification as a Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), MLT(ASCP), (AMT) or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program.
At least 2 years experience as a lab management experience.
Must be able to work as a generalist in all areas of the lab.
The facility is a critical access hospital with a nursing home.
The Lab Manager will be required to be hands-on.There is 4 Med Techs and a PRN on staff.
Schedules can be from 5:30am to 7pm M-F, Saturdays person will work half days. The rest of the time is covered by on call which is rotated.
When the person takes on call they will be compensated $2.50hr and when called back in they get paid 1.5 times pay with a guarantee of 1 hour.
The position will pay between $35.15-44.90hr depending on experience and they offer full benefits and a sign-on/relo bonus.
