Job Description
The Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Health & Performance is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the mental and physical well-being of the University of Louisville Athletic Department's student-athletes. The position is responsible for the successful implementation of high performance strategies and management outcomes, particularly in relation to the focus areas of mental performance and mental health, sports medicine, sports nutrition, and sports performance (strength and conditioning, analytics, etc.). Using a collaborative and comprehensive approach, this position will ensure that every student-athlete receives the highest quality of care across every aspect of their training. This position will report to the Director of Athletics and serves as a member of the senior leadership team.

Job Responsibilities:

Direct oversight and leadership of the mental performance and mental health, sports medicine, sports nutrition, and sports performance ensuring University of Louisville student-athletes are provided the highest quality services efficiently and effectively; Coordinate with staff to design, develop, and implement programming in mental performance and mental health, sports medicine, sports nutrition, and sports performance; Provide administrative oversight, innovative thinking, multidisciplinary collaboration, and strong leadership in an ever-changing landscape within collegiate athletics; Maintain a collaborative partnership with University of Louisville Athletics' official medical provider to ensure proper and prompt care is provided to student-athletes; Manage the LCARE Support team; Develop and maintain relationships with campus and community partners as well as stakeholders, and vendors (i.e. Gatorade, Catapult, etc.); Other special projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Five (5) years experience as a high-level administrator or director of a collegiate or professional staff (e.g., sports medicine, sports performance, sport psychology, sport nutrition, etc.)
  • Advanced license/certification in a specialty relevant to the job responsibilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of health and performance policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work nights and weekends


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Sport Administration, Exercise Science, Business or a related field
  • Seven (7) years experience as a high-level administrator or director of a collegiate or professional staff (e.g., sports medicine, sports performance, sport psychology, sport nutrition, etc.)
  • Prior experience in strategic planning to achieve high performance sport outcomes
  • Proven success building strategic relationships and a proven capacity to influence, appeal and work in collaboration with stakeholders and diverse constituents
