Senior Technical Designer
The Senior Technical Designer actively leads all aspects of the product category pertaining to core block pattern development, construction, quality, fit, measuring, grading, and decoration. The Senior Technical Designer will be the key liaison between Sourcing, Merchandising, Design, and Art with both the Technical Designer and the Associate Technical Designer. He/she must remain in tuned with industry changes and innovation evolving around flat pattern and 3D software. Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute pre-production process for all stages of final approval by design category including construction, fit decoration placement, fabric weight, trims quality, and labels.
  • Ensures all tech packs are accurate and complete and following standard protocol as established by department guidelines
  • Lead Fit Session per product category
  • Develop and maintain all block patterns within pattern software
  • Troubleshoot potential production issues for both aesthetic and cost purposes
  • Mentor Technical Design team pertaining to How to Measure and Production Standards Manual and communication to active vendor base
  • Coach and mentor Technical Design team by actively attending all Fittings and provided needed feedback
  • Lead Seasonal Fit Analysis by product category based on Key Retailers, Competition, and Market Influence
  • Collaborates with Creative Design and Creative Art Managers to meet overall garment census during all stages of development
  • Provide the Art Team Adobe Illustrator pattern files for use in Art Files
  • Monitor and Report design category metrics
  • Insure team is meeting calendar objectives
  • Stay abreast to International Size Standards and apply within Fanatics as needed
  • Actively collaborate with Technical Design, Design, Materials, Sourcing, and Product Integrity departments
Required Skills/Experience/Education:
  • BS or Master's Degree in Product Development, Fit Engineer, Technical Design, Pattern Making, or related field, with minimally 6 years of relative hands-on experience
  • 10+ current years of experience in the fashion industry with strong leadership skills
  • 7+ years of experience managing people
  • Proficient in PLM, data bases, and MS Office applications
  • Experience managing processes and leading projects
  • Experienced in working with off-shore factories and knowledge of apparel manufacturing processes
  • Able to identify fit issues within product category and know how to correct
  • Actively participate in corporate standards inclusive of garment and quality
  • Must be good influencer to the team in sharing knowledge and experience
  • Must be deadline driven and have a pro-active and creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up
  • Must be able to translate market right designs into cost effective garments while maintaining quality and integrity of product
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong sense of urgency and intuitive sense of priorities & accuracy
  • Strong fabric knowledge and color sense
  • Proficient in PLM, data bases and MS Office applications
