Essential Functions: We are looking for enthusiastic Media Relations Assistant to provide excellent customer service to our patrons and working media. The ideal candidate will display excellent oral and written communication to implement and execute strategic plans for our entire organization. Responsibilities: Ability to maintain a neat, clean & professional appearance Ability to work in a high paced environment Electronic and computer proficiency Excellent customer service while maintaining the highest standards of quality and cleanliness High attention to detail Strong communication and problem solving skills Duties: Archive media coverage of team, ballpark, and organization Assist in creating routines for promotional entertainment Assisting the group sales department daily Build daily stat packs, write press releases, and produce game notes Clean and maintain Press Box at Regions Field in a professional manner Delivering pocket schedules Distribute promotional items designed to help increase fan spirit and attendance at games Ensure media materials - rosters, game notes, stat packs, lineups - are up-to-date for every game Facilitate media requests and interviews, including pitching stories Interact with fans before, during and after the games Keeping upbeat atmosphere before, during and after games Maintain mascot costume Mascoting - fan entertainment Other duties as assigned Other internship duties Perform as mascot at home games as needed Perform as mascot in community events around the Birmingham region as scheduled Perform on the dugout during the 7th inning stretch Personally interact with fans and patrons you encounter Produce the Barons media guide using Adobe InDesign Pulling Tarp Representing organization in the community Update social media channels throughout the games and with original content and proper tone Update team website with news stories, press releases, and game day info Write feature stories and interviews for game day program Qualifications: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize goals Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Experience working in baseball preferred Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop Strong team work ethic Strong time management and organizational skills General Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 25lbs up to 50lbs Ability to maintaining the highest standards of food safety, food quality and cleanliness Ability to stand for up to 5+ hours during a game Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to rain and heat Ability to work long hours, weekends & holidays Company Description: The Birmingham Barons are the proud Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
