Think you have what it takes to intern at the best bike company in the world? Trek is currently looking for an enthusiastic Industrial Engineering Intern. This internship will leave you experienced in working with carbon composite manufacturing processes, leading continuous improvement/lean activities, participating in the new production development process, a wide variety of manufacturing processes from molding, machining, bonding, and finishing, and an overall knowledge of manufacturing high-end consumer products and the operational challenges.

Summer 2019

Core Responsibilities:
  • Lead quality improvement projects within the carbon manufacturing value stream
  • Participate and lead kaizen events within the carbon manufacturing area
  • Prepare parts for destructive testing and analyze defective parts for root cause/corrective action
  • Design tooling or processes to improve safety, ergonomics, and increase manufacturing productivity
  • Assist support staff with introduction of new products to manufacturing
The carbon manufacturing value stream manufactures high-end performance bicycle racing products using advanced materials and processes. Our proprietary OCLV process is used and starts with the molding of raw material and ends with the finishing of a completed, bonded frame. We produce both frames as well as high-end rims. We do this with a focus on safety, quality, lead time, cost, and innovation.
