Description
The ideal candidate is a creative design engineer who understands how to balance Electrical/IT/AV design with the realities of Life Time's needs under direct supervision of Director of Engineering. This requires a broad understanding and experience with sophisticated building types, an appreciation of the fiscal and financial aspects of their operations, an ability to filter out the salient and critical aspects of Life Time's needs, deep understanding of construction process, and the vision to translate that information into a documented form that meets Life Time's expectations.

The Sr. Electrical Engineer has an appreciation for the goals of the design process, and works with all team members to development and implement Electrical/IT/AV solutions that meet the constraints of time, budget, schedule. The ideal candidate is able to leverage skill sets through versatility in the approach of design solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering load calculations, electrical panel sizing, equipment selection, lighting and lighting control, IT/AV design
  • Proficient in applicable design codes and standards, including current electrical codes
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams to develop construction drawings and specification documents
  • Establish and coordinate overall design schedule
  • Plan project resources and budget
  • Perform construction administration
  • Manage design and engineering of a broad range of electrical project types
  • Partner/Liaison to third party consultants and construction team
  • Reviews technical content and operational requirements in construction drawings, specifications, and project manuals for compliance with Life Time's objectives, budget, and schedule
  • Conduct pre-construction reviews including estimate review
  • Manage and appropriately communicate project scope changes, issues, and risks
  • Utilize value engineering to insure projects are managed with minimum cost
  • Review engineering, design and shop drawings
  • Respond to RFIs and submittals
  • Develop system narratives
  • Develop performance specification narratives
  • Performs detailed technical and engineering analysis
  • Identify engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented
  • Lead sustainable building design and operation
  • Manage renewable energy systems for buildings
  • Oversee energy efficient design of buildings
  • Oversee Building Commissioning (Re, Retro and CX)
  • Leading the development of and mentor young designers in the firm
  • Building an external network within the Engineering community
  • Active involvement in the local Engineering community
  • Working closely with all company disciplines
  • Mentoring, provide guidance and be a professional educator for staffs
  • Acts as a resource for construction and operations teams
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education

  • Four-year college degree in electrical engineering

Licenses / Certifications / Registration
  • Professional Engineer License (PE)
  • NCEES record with ability to be licensed in any State

Experience
  • 10 years of experience in engineering
  • 7 years of experience in commercial buildings
  • 3 years of experience in project management
  • Previous work experience must include all phases of design and construction
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (power, lighting, controls, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of healthcare facility planning, design, and operation standards
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting technical data, reports, specifications, and engineering and architectural plans

  • Ability to properly delegate and follow up to ensure completion of assigned tasks by staff
  • Ability to synthesize information from many sources to create, articulate, and implement strategies that will improve construction document production efficiencies and alignment of goals and expectations
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to execute effective multitasking with tight deadlines independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and recommend solutions
  • Analytical and logical problem-solving skills
  • Handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead several groups of people to work toward one desired outcome
  • Ability to work with CAD software programs such as REVIT and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and computer software including Microsoft Office
Travel
  • Corporate monthly travel to project sites or as required
