This position will create and support robust community engagement and programming to advance NYRR's mission of helping and inspiring people through running. This position will oversee all community investment projects, cultivation and growth of relationships and programming with parks conservancy groups, and develop, manage and lead a robust year-round advocacy and lobbying program with City, State and Federal elected officials and staff. With a background in and knowledge of government, with a particular focus on New York City government, this position with serve as a lead contact with many City agencies and officials, to deepen ties and increase awareness across all City agencies of NYRR's mission and programming. Job Responsibilities: -Serve as the project manager for community investment initiatives including The Trust for Public Land playground projects, NYRR Mile Markers, park improvement projects, and more; -Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with city and state government agencies and elected officials ; -Work across departments to manage, grow and develop strategies for new mission-aligned investment initiatives; -Develop project-based and departmental budgets, monitor against actuals, reforcast when necessary.; -Along with the Vice President for Government Rleations & Community Investment, build a robust and effective lobbying and advocacy program, with an initial focus on the New York City Council; -Identify, innovate and implement best practices, industry data, new technologies and future trends for possible incorporation into government relations efforts; -Work with Vice President, Government Relations & Community Investment to create opportunities to build brand awareness and city and state government engagement; -Oversee and manage all aspects of the community investment initiative including managing and improving relationships with The Trust for Public Land, City Parks Foundation and others; -Oversee and manage park conservancy partnerships including managing and improving relationships with NYC Parks, Central Park Conservancy, Prospect Park Alliance, and many other parks-related organizations; -Act as a main liaison between NYRR and NYC Parks; -Assist the Vice President of Government Relations & Community Investment on an as-needed basis to support community projects and events; -Work as Project Manager with divisions and departments on an ad hoc basis to assist with strategy, development and implementation where needed. Position Requirements -Effective problem solving skills -Exceptional written and oral communication skills -Strong & effective facilitation skills -Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical and creative, and detail-oriented -Ability to work with diverse populations -Must be flexible, with an ability to manage multiple projects while meeting and performing under tight deadlines, think clearly under pressure, and exercise good judgment -Understanding of the digital environment including website content and social media channels -Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). -Experience managing team members -Willingness to work weekends and extended hours, especially during peak event periods -Passion for NYRR and our mission -7 years' experience preferred in community and governmental engagement and strategic problem solving -Project and program management experience -Knowledge of event development and production preferred -MBA or Master's Degree preferred
