The Development Team is a critical department raising funds to support programs and services at the JCCSF. The Grant Writer supports the JCCSFs fundraising activities with foundation, corporate and government funding. Working closely with the Director of Institutional Giving, the Development Team, and key program staff this position helps to identify, write and report on fundable program opportunities. Primary responsibilities include grant research, proposal writing, and report writing for a variety of institutional grant-making entities. RESPONSIBILITIES: ◾In consultation with the Director of Institutional Giving; implement and evaluate an annual institutional funding plan to achieve revenue goals. ◾Research and cultivate the current portfolio with new institutional prospects. ◾Write compelling, informative and substantive grant proposals, requests for renewal, reports, letters of inquiry (LOI), budgets and budget narratives. ◾Develop a deep understanding of JCCSF programs and services by working collaboratively with Director of Institutional Giving and program staff in acquiring both quantitative and qualitative information about our programs. ◾Organize, maintain, and share grant proposal, report, renewal, and other grant activity information using Salesforces database. Maintain electronic and paper files. Keep accurate organizational calendar of all institutional funding opportunities. ◾Working with the Director of Institutional Giving, keep program staff and other internal stakeholders informed of grant proposal, report deadlines and activities well in advance of due dates. Work with program and finance staff to ensure compliance with grant awards and agreements. ◾Create acknowledgement letters and other supplemental correspondence as needed related to institutional giving. ◾Complete occasional writing projects for Development and Executive Team as needed. ◾Other duties as required or assigned. REQUIREMENTS: ◾Bachelors degree ◾3+ years of progressively responsible nonprofit development and grant writing experience. ◾Demonstrated experience with grant seeking, grant writing, and relationship development with institutional donors. ◾Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropic community, and private and corporate foundations. ◾Knowledge of trends and prospects in Jewish, Arts, and Educational grant making strongly desired. ◾Strong professional writing, editing and oral communication skills ◾Ability to work closely with program staff to develop technically accurate, compelling and creative content. ◾A willingness to exchange ideas and to be flexible as to approaches for carrying out goals and priorities. ◾Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail. ◾Must be well-organized and self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively. ◾High proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with Salesforce ◾Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the JCCSF. HOURS: 40 hours/week. Part-time position may also be considered. STATUS: Benefited, non-exempt, collective bargaining unit position. CLASSIFICATION: Professional II
