Department: Information & Technology Services Reports to: Director of Information & Technology Services Type: Staff, Full-time, 10 months Stephens College, the first women's college to offer varsity scholarships in esports, seeks a motivated individual to grow and lead the Stephens esports program in alignment with the college mission of 'Learn, Grow, Lead' and the focus of empowering women in esports. This position will involve additional responsibilities depending on the profile, skills, experience, and interests of the successful applicant. Responsibilities:
  • Administer all aspects of the esports program, including but not limited to: designing practice plans and conducting practice, scheduling of contests, preparing for competition, maintaining uniforms and equipment, managing budget, supervising assistants (graduate, part-time, volunteer, or student)
  • Provide fundamental and advanced instruction in Over-watch emphasizing teamwork, communication, map strategies, team composition strategies, and character strengths and weaknesses
  • Actively recruit qualified student-athletes who have an interest in one of the
  • College's academic programs; recruitment and retention of student-athletes are both key aspects of the position
  • Work with financial aid on recommendation of scholarships
  • Develop activities (community service outreach, workshops, clinics, etc.) to promote the esports program
  • Mentor student-athletes with regard to life skills and preparation for life after their sport and college
  • Monitor academic progress of student athletes
  • Represent Stephens College in a manner consistent with its ideals and the NAIA
  • Champions of Character program
  • Schedule scrimmages with other college teams and register the team in appropriate competitions
  • Plan and conduct a one week esports summer camp for middle and high school students
  • Maintain continuous contact with faculty, staff, and students to exchange factual information and explanation of rules, regulations, practices or functions
  • Other duties as assigned Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Coaching or teaching experience
  • In depth knowledge of Overwatch maps, characters, and strategies
  • Experience playing Overwatch or similar esport on a PC
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Keying on a computer repeatedly during an 8-hour shift
  • Reaching/handling of various office equipment/files repeatedly during an 8-hour shift
