Job Description
Description / Job Summary Summary of Position's responsibilities: The Athletic Director is an administrative professional position which reports directly to the Dean of Student Development. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of the intercollegiate athletic program and compliance of the Title IX within the laws, policies, procedures and guidelines established by Baltimore City Community College and NJCAA

Responsibilities / Duties Essential Duties:

  • Organizes and administers all the programs of intercollegiate competition in men's and women's sports;

  • Conducts regular meetings and training to promote strict adherence to conference and state athletics rules, regulations, and codes;

  • Prepares and manages the annual budget and monitors all athletic-related expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner;

  • Organizes the athletic department to achieve maximum efficiency in the utilization of staff, funds, and facilities and ensures appropriate and equitable distribution of funds; use of facilities between men's and women's sports;

  • Implements federal, state, and local policy and procedures governing intercollegiate athletics;

  • Coordinates all activities related to the scheduling of all athletic events, facilities, and transportation as necessary;

  • Participates in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of the coaches, support staff, and athletic trainers;

  • Represents the College and the athletic program to the community, NJCAA;

  • Prepares local and state reports and coordinates program review;

  • Participates in assignments at off-campus sites, days, evenings or weekends;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to interpret and apply National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations;

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, financial management, oral and written communications skills;

  • Ability to direct and supervise the work of others and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships;

  • Demonstrated sensitivity and willingness to work with students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability levels, and ethnic backgrounds;

  • Ability to commit to the academic development of all student-athletes and to the mission of the college;

  • Knowledge of Title IX compliance;

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:
    • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Athletics Administration, Business, Education or a closely related field;


    Experience Minimum:
    • Five (5) years of athletic administration and/or similar type of leadership role in relevant field;
    • Experience overseeing or managing a college/university athletics program and staff;
    • Experience coaching at the college or university level;
    • An understanding of NJCAA rules and compliance requirements, including requirement for recruiting student athletes;
    • Experience managing a departmental budget;
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience:
    • Progressive responsibility including personnel management, fundraising, donor cultivation, compliance and operations experience;
    • Experience with fiscal reporting/management, preparing and managing operating budgets, equipment inventories, and facilities/game day management;
