About This Role This is a full-time position in San Francisco, CA. We are looking for a Growth Analyst who can identify, program and test our sports media content across a variety of paid marketing channels. You will be working with the Growth Team to scale paid acquisition efforts by using The Athletic content in a variety of ways. Our ideal candidate will combine their intuition for great sports content with a strong, data-driven approach to measure and contextualize the value of different story types to potential subscribers. Strong copywriting skills are a huge plus. Responsibilities Content programming across existing paid social media channels. Identifying new channels to promote The Athletic content. Testing content to understand what resonates with our subscribers. Communicate insights to our editorial team to improve our product. Develop a deep understanding of The Athletic writers and how their work lends to various paid marketing channels. Job Requirements A recent college graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Media, Marketing, Liberal Arts or a related field. Must have extensive knowledge of professional/collegiate sports and the sports media landscape (NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAA, NFL, Soccer, etc). Ability to read through articles across all sports and identify characteristics for each story. Strong copywriting skills. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Active on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social networks as an active contributor/consumer of sports news. Experienced and/or eager to learn more about content strategy and optimization, content marketing and content creation. Ability to multitask and self-manage projects. Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving start-up.
