Senior Director, Medical Alliances

In this highly visible leadership role in Medical Affairs, you will work closely with a cross-functional group that includes Research & Development, Commercial, IT, Government Affairs, Patient Engagement and Corporate Communications to ensure that the execution of all major Medical Affairs programs are aligned with our medical strategies and with broader HCP and patient needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a key role in leading three critical teams charged with
1) Developing and implementing the Medical Affairs strategy for publications and scientific communications (SCI COM),
2) Overseeing the team responsible for thought leader engagement planning, medical congresses and all associated activities, and medical advisory boards (MEDICAL ALLIANCES), and
3) Provide oversight to the team responsible for our medical education grants program and investigator sponsored studies (GRANTS & ISS).
You will be leading a highly skilled and diverse team of medical affairs professionals and need to have demonstrated a strong commitment to achieving corporate objectives while maintaining the highest ethical, regulatory and scientific standards and a proven track record of both functional expertise and team development. Responsibilities Define, implement, and drive processes to improve coordination and execution across departments to deliver on the scientific communication, medical alliance and grant team strategies and tactical plans for Medical Affairs. Ensure the coordination, development, review, and execution of all three functional plans across company functions and ensure deliverables are met within set timelines and budgets, including the critical development, review, approval and release of materials that support medical and scientific communications (e.g.manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide presentations). Support the collaboration and communication with Clinical, Regulatory, R&D, and other groups as needed to ensure that all data are represented accurately, in a balanced manner and correctly in any published literature, slide sets, and other materials. Oversee the Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISSs) team assessment, selection, and implementation of our ISS program as well as special young investigator awards program. Provide oversight on the identification of educational gaps, innovative programming trends, and impactful outcomes reporting with the MedEd Grants Team. Provide strong leadership to the Medical Alliances team in the development and execution of the advisory board annual plan, thought leader engagement planning and systems, and all aspects of critical medical congress planning, working cross-functionally on fully integrated strategic and operational aspects of our presence at all major CNS and addiction conferences. Lead the ongoing budgetary processes as part of annual business planning and review of departmental expenses within Medical Affairs, providing critical analysis and forecasting. Participate in the development of SOPs for activities conducted by Medical Affairs, and ensure that all activities are in compliance with ICH and other international regulatory guidelines and follow relevant GCPs and SOPs. Provide leadership for business critical initiatives and projects as identified by the VP of Medical Affairs.
Qualifications 12 + years of medical/scientific affairs experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, preferably with some experience in mental health and/or addiction focused therapeutic areas. Advanced degree, ideally with a strong foundation in the sciences Broad understanding of global Medical, Regulatory and Commercial environments Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment, as well as a proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines Highly organized with a focus on execution, problem solving, and improving processes Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team Strong influence, communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical skills to provide impact assessments of programs and ability to identify changes in practices that are data driven. Travel Willingness/Ability to travel up to 30 % domestically. International travel may be required.
