The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with a premium drinks business in Scotland who`s name in internationally synonyms with the country. Due to some high profile work that we have been doing recently with the company, we have been invited to assist them in the recruitment of a payroll manager.

The role has been the result of a number of factors not least a current project around the payroll processes, the creation of a newly created team as well as a couple of projects forecast to launch early next year.

This specific role will be based in Cumbernauld and will report into the head of shared services (also based in the same location). The role holder will be responsible for the growth of the team as well as many other duties.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of the payroll manager position is primarily to manage a team of payroll processors. In addition to the day-to-day management, you will also be involved in the migration of several (double figure), international payrolls into this shared service centre of excellence. To add a degree of spice to the post, you will also be actively involved in the implementation of a new payroll ERP system (next year), to streamline and modernise the newly migrated payrolls/existing payrolls.

On a day to day basis you can expect to be involved in the following;
Anagement of the Groups UK and Overseas payroll ensuring current legislative and contractual deductions are applied, paid timely and authorised in line with the Group Banking mandate.

Management of the Groups secondee’s payrolls, liaising with 3rd party providers ensuring current legislative and contractual deductions are applied.

Lead the delivery of new payroll projects, implementations and enhancement of Payroll systems and processes.

Collaborate with the HR department to create, build and enhance strong working relationships with the aim to provide an efficient and effective service to employees throughout the company.

Administer the electronic submission of all employee payments and settlement of 3rd party payments with a right first-time mind-set, through online banking platforms ensuring all payments comply with Group T&Cs and regulatory requirements.

Develop, manage and control Payroll systems and processes (including those outsourced to third party service providers) to meet current and future business requirements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Oversight and review of the month end financial processes for payroll reporting, ensuring accountings entries are correctly recorded and monthly balance sheet reconciliations completed as per Group timetable.

The Requirements
We are seeking an experienced payroll manager who has the drive and determination to deliver the highest level of service. We are seeking an individual who has a can do and will do attitude who can lead from the front and challenge the expected norms to deliver an efficient payroll service. Applicants will need to have a comprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation and who ideally has some exposure to non UK payroll – Ideally Irish/European (or both preferably). This role has its challenges and is not for the faint hearted. The systems currently are adequate but are in need of an extensive overhaul. The payroll is also made more complex by adding in various payroll amendments like bonus, shift allowance, overtime and many other unique anomalies. The role holder can expect to be kept incredibly busy and challenged, but our client will reward in abundance!
