The Airborne Multimode Radar Product Line, part of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems Mission Area in Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems, seeks a highly motivated Chief Engineer responsible for the overall execution of production contracts supporting RADAR products in a defense contractor manufacturing setting. The successful candidate will lead all program production improvement activities ensuring all phases of program readiness for manufacturing and overseeing the production thereof. Specific areas of focus include but are not limited to product test development and deployment, advanced manufacturing techniques, factory space and planning, prototype / product development build, Part failure analysis and redesign, and part/supplier obsolescence management. This role must build and maintain strong diverse customer relationships, both internal and external to Raytheon supporting strong business growth. The position will reside in the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) Center within Airborne Multi-mode Radars. Job Related Activities: * Provide technical leadership to engineering teams responsible for production. Direct and oversee the activities of multi-disciplinary engineering teams * Act as the bridge between program management and factory technical staff * Communicate priorities and remove barriers to task execution for production engineering team (both McKinney and Forest) * Identify engineering resource gaps within the factory as well as with SAS engineering support * Provide leadership and support as well as technical customer interface for major non-conformance and technical issues that occur in the factory * Participate in program FRB and ensure robust FRACAS/RCCA process execution * Coordinate with the Silent Knight program Chief Engineer regarding production priorities, recommendations for design changes, and RCCA findings * Participate in the program hardware and software CCBs * Identify and execute opportunities for factory yield improvement * Provide leadership and support for the disposition of discrepant hardware and GFM repairs * Develop and/or review tooling and test concepts * Travel to key suppliers regularly to ensure ongoing production requirements are met * Minimum 10 years' experience with Radar development programs * Minimum 10 years' experience of production related experience in Engineering or Operations * Knowledge of general manufacturing processes including wire harness assembly, circuit card assembly, module and LRU assembly, and testing operations * Experience working within agreed upon budgetary demands * Experience leading, managing, and mentoring diverse engineering teams * Experienced presenter, with prior responsibility for communicating and delivering executive-level briefings and studies * Must have an active DoD Secret or higher security clearance prior to commencing work * U.S. Citizenship and ability to access to US only data systems * U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment Desired Skills: * Previous experience as Chief Engineer, Program Manager, or technical oversight of major/complex production effort * Experience in program operations phases from production handover from Engineering to initial production to verification testing and test setup to sustainment to obsolescence management * A proactive team-builder who can motivate and lead by example * A logical problem solver who can operate effectively under project constraints * Highly skilled in anticipating problems and planning to mitigate them * Experience in RADAR system development * A strong organizer who gets the most out of his people by keeping them directed and focused * Familiarity with the Raytheon processes Required Education: * B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree(s) preferred This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment 124787 Business Unit Profile Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) builds radars and other sensors for aircraft, spacecraft and ships.
