The Division of Physical Therapy at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio is inviting applications for a full-time, 11 month tenure track faculty position with expertise in orthopedics/musculoskeletal physical therapy at the level of Assistant or Associate professor. Starting date is July 1, 2019 - although this is negotiable. This position requires teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with qualifications of applicant.

Consideration will be given to candidates who complement and/or expand current department research and teaching strengths. The ideal candidate should have research interests in motion analysis and upper extremity conditions and show evidence of the ability to develop a successful, extramurally funded research program. A fully equipped motion analysis laboratory is available for immediate use by the successful candidate. Teaching will be primarily within the orthopedic curriculum track of the entry-level program. Additional teaching responsibilities in areas of expertise may be assigned or requested based upon program needs and candidate interest.

All faculty within the Division participate in service at the division, college, or university level and advise entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students. Teaching and research collaborations within the college and university are fostered and encouraged. Resources for teaching and research are available within the division, college, and university.


* Teach graduate and potentially undergraduate courses with a commitment to active learning and use of technology in the learning process.
* Sustained productivity and growth in a focused research program.
* Successful grant writing using internal and external sponsors.
* Advise and mentor DPT students and undergraduate students.
* Service to the Division, School, College, University, profession, and community.
* Contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of research, instruction, and community collaborations.

* Physical therapist eligible for licensure by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board.
* Clinical expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation developed over at least 3 years of clinical experience.
* Terminal academic degree (PhD, DSc, or similar).
* ABD considered with degree completion by employment start date.
* Demonstrated scholarly productivity as evidenced by recent completion of terminal academic degree or a track record of peer reviewed publications.
* Plan for establishing and conducting independent research.
