Commercial Manager, Flexible UK - Chepstow, Birmingham or Egham. Salary range 39,400 - 59,000 + car/allowance + performance-related bonus + nice benefits
This is an important opportunity with a leading distributed energy and private networks business who finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial, public sector, and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.
The role
The Commercial Manager South - Smart Buildings (BMS) will support the Head of Commercial and Southern Smart Buildings Business Managers (Chepstow, Birmingham and Egham) in providing commercial contract support pre (mainly) and post contract, upstream and downstream.
Key responsibilities
* Drafting, negotiating, vetting and concluding commercial contracts whilst undertaking commercial risk reviews and recording them in commercial reports and contract summaries to ensure awareness of obligations and risk mitigation.
* Support company's sales and project delivery teams to meet customer requirements, manage delivery risks and ensure we deliver optimal commercial outcomes.
* Support post contract activity, upstream and downstream, on complex, challenging and prestigious projects, providing contractual interpretation, obligation awareness, administering extension of time requests, applications, notices, loss and expense claims, resolving disputes, closing final accounts and late debt resolution.
* Monitor, audit and ensure compliance with company's governance requirements and processes.
* Support the business to draft, negotiate, vet, conclude and manage supply chain commercial arrangements.
* Ensure that internal reports of the projects and contracts are accurate in respect of obligations, risks & liabilities, costs incurred, projection of future costs, contingency, variations, claims, sub-contract management and profit declared.
* Review and improve operating processes regularly to ensure efficiencies are identified and maximised.
Essential requirements
* A knowledge or understanding of Building Energy Management Systems/ M&E Plant as well as construction industry is an advantage
* Relevant professional qualification (LLB, MRICS, BSc QS, etc.) with good working knowledge of construction law (be familiar with NEC, JCT, etc.)
* Candidates must have experience operating in a commercial/ contract management role within the Construction or Mechanical & Electrical industry
* Level of understanding of the energy industry and commercial awareness of the DE markets, energy technologies and solutions
* You will have a thorough understanding of how to deliver on the obligations contained within company's contracts and thereby robustly secure the best outcome for the organisation
* Detail orientated with excellent organisational skills
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and proactively on several projects at any one time
Remuneration
Salary range 39,400 - 59,000 + car/ allowance + bonus and nice benefits.
