Postdoctoral Fellowship: Gene therapy/vision restoration

Position:
A post-doctoral fellow position is available immediately within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Medical College of Wisconsin, for a highly motivated scientist interested in the development of novel gene and cell therapy strategies to preserve and restore vision in models of rare and complex eye disease. The successful fellow will work under the direct guidance of Dr Daniel M. Lipinski, Director of the Ocular Gene Therapy Laboratory, and will join a growing team of committed vision researchers, students and staff working at the MCW Eye Institute.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:
-Candidates should hold or expect to be awarded a doctoral degree (PhD/DPhil) in a relevant biological discipline (e.g. biology, ophthalmology, neurobiology) at the time of application. Preference will be given to applicants who also have some knowledge of developmental biology.
-Candidates are expected to have extensive experience with common molecular and cell biology laboratory techniques (cloning, PCR, tissue culture etc) and be able to teach techniques to graduate students and staff as required.
-Prior experience with conducting in vivo ocular imaging and electrophysiological assessments (cSLO, OCT, ERG) is strongly preferred, but not critical.
-Experience of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vector production, purification and delivery technologies is not required and will be provided as part of the candidate's post-doctoral training.

Start: Immediate
Compensation: NIH standards will be used in setting the pay scale.
