Postdoctoral Fellow/ Researcher Associate

Our research laboratory employs experimental models to study the cellular and molecular basis of host responses to vector-borne intracellular bacteria. We are also interested in developing novel diagnostic assay and vaccine for infectious diseases caused by intracellular pathogens.
We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow/research associate with strong scientific curiosity and integrity to participate in multiple projects. Selected candidate is required to have strong background/training in microbiology, cellular biology, immunology, or closely related field. Basic research experiences/techniques are required, including siRNA, PCR, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, cell culture, ELISA or flow cytometric analysis. The successful candidate would be expected to perform experiments independently, organize data, draft manuscript/progress report and present research findings in meetings and/or conferences with supervision by the PI. Working experience with animal handling in high-containment laboratory such as BSL3 would be an additional competency.
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston is an academic medical center with the state-of-the-art core facilities with NIH-funded national biocontainment laboratories (Galveston National Laboratory). Galveston is only one hour driving from Houston, the 4th largest city in the United States. Salary is commensurate with experience and compliant with NIH policy.
