Our client owns and operates a fleet of power plants. They have a current need for an IC&E (Instrumentation, Control & Electrical) Technician at their power plant located near Palm Springs, CA. This position reports to the Operation and Maintenance Manager:

Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, installation and repair of plant electronic, electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and control equipment including; differential pressure (DP) level and flow instruments, pressure, vacuum and temperature instrumentation, control valves and positioners, pneumatic instruments, mass flow instruments, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), relays and various types of analyzers including Continuous Emissions Monitors (CEMS).

Review, modify, update or develop logic for control systems under the direction and approval of management and supervision.

Work call-outs as required to maintain Plant availability.

Conduct testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and grounding activities on all plant electrical systems.

Assist in scheduling, coordinating and conducting preventative maintenance activities as required.

Responsible for seeing that all safety rules and procedures are followed at all times.

Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommends improvements and modifications.

Generate, prepare, and submit various reports as assigned and directed.

Participate in the development of site training materials and documentation as assigned.

Participate in the ongoing development, improvement and revision of applicable policies, standards and procedures as assigned.

Responsible to complete assigned safety, administrative, technical or other training as required in a timely matter.

Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

Assist in developing PM procedures and Job Plans as needed.

Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean safe work environment and professional appearance.

Perform other tasks as directed by the Plant Manager or Operations and Maintenance Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school graduate or equivalent, and trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs. Additional professional training preferred.

2. Minimum of five years of control electronics experience in power generation facilities, process plants or equivalent military experience. Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.

3. Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.

4. Must have knowledge of Digital Computer Control Systems modifications, PLC programming, Visual Basic logic development and editing, plant integrated data acquisition and storage programming and monitoring, and ability to use and modify computer programs. Must have a thorough knowledge of electrical circuits and machines and capable of working on low and high voltage switchgear. Must have a thorough knowledge of instrumentation and controls for gas turbines. Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals. Ability to understand, develop and/or complete records and reports as required.

5. Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.

6. Must have the manual dexterity to climb ladders / stairs, reach and operate manual and automatic valves, breakers or other devices. Twist to reach equipment

7. Experience with computer software programs such as MS word, Excel, Power Point and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems

8. Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery. Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety procedures.

9. Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
