Systems Administrator I - Linux, Perm, Richardson, TX

Job Summary

The Systems Administrator will be a critical supporting member of the Infrastructure Engineering team. This role will work with other teams to provision IT Infrastructure in support of ETC Products and services to end users, both internal and external. Systems will include all client-facing production systems, Internal IT, Security, and Vendor managed systems. While primary focus will be Cloud systems, there may be hardware and related software to maintain. Role will also assist with patching, security, and system configuration. Role will also assist development teams in both release management and CI/CD Devops.

Essential Functions (fundamental, crucial job duties performed in a position. include how the person is to perform them including frequency of tasks)

  • Maintain all Infrastructure for all programs and all internal programs to include client-facing projects, internal IT, Security, and Vendor managed systems in primarily a cloud environment in support of DEVOPS.
  • Intake, design, documentation and delivery of Servers and systems for all clients.
  • Assist Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of all production and non-production issues.
  • Maintain adherence to all policies and procedures related to change management and security.
  • Maintain general platform health and system integrity.
  • Collaborate and commit to a common goal set withing a small team environment where team members learn and use many different technologies within a highly structured planning and delivery process.

Required Experience:

Competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities the person needs to do the job)

  • Possesses ability to deliver cloud and virtual systems to deliver required systems on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Google Cloud Compute (GCP), and VMWare.
  • Provide support for RHEL, Centos, and Oracle Linux (OEL).
  • Provide support and administration for Hypervisor technologies: VMware vSphere, VirtualBox
  • Applicant will be able to work closely with other teams to ensure they can use the delivered system.
  • Provide support and administration for Hardware including Dell PowerEdge, Cisco UCS, EMC, Cisco Networking and Cabling
  • Provide support and administration for Software including Backups (Commvault) and Monitoring (Zenoss)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues with systems escalated from 1st level support.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of all systems.
  • Integrate appropriate industry standards and best practices as it relates to configuration, performance, security, availability, maintenance, and continuity of enterprise server systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.

Required Education and Experience

  • College Degree or Equivalent Experience Required
  • 1-2 years' experience with Cloud systems (OCI or GCP)
  • 1-2 years' experience with Linux.
  • Familiar with all levels of IT Project Delivery, JIRA a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Preferred Education and Experience

Some college preferred
