Systems Administrator I - Windows, Perm, Richardson, TX

Job Summary

The System Administrator I (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.

This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standards and best practices. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. While primary focus will be Cloud systems, there may be hardware and related software to maintain. Role will also assist with patching, security, and system configuration. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life cycle.

This individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows systems that support the existing infrastructure and the operations, support, maintenance and research/development to ensure continual innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Maintain all Infrastructure for all programs and all internal programs to include client-facing projects, internal IT, Security, and Vendor managed systems in primarily a cloud environment.
  • Hardware setup, configuration, and administration of Windows Enterprise server/client installations.
  • Administration of Active Directory environment
  • Intake, design, documentation and delivery of Servers and systems for all clients
  • Assist Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of all production and non-production issues
  • On-call support rotation

Required Experience:

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Production support of complex Windows based infrastructure (3+ years)
  • Windows 2012 & 2016 Server installation & configuration (2+ Years)
  • Active Directory administration and configuration (2+ Years)
  • Provide support and administration for Hypervisor technologies: VMware vSphere, VirtualBoxProvide support and administration for Software including Backups (Commvault) and Monitoring (Zenoss)
  • Integrate appropriate industry standards and best practices as it relates to configuration, performance, security, availability, maintenance, and continuity of enterprise server systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Technology consulting experience, worked at a customer site location, good verbal, written and listening skills
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure they can use the delivered system.

Requires occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds

Educational Requirements:

  • Four (4) year college degree or equivalent related working experience
  • 1-2 years' experience with Cloud systems (Azure,OCI or GCP)
  • Familiar with all levels of IT Project Delivery, JIRA a plus.
  • Administration of various flavors of Linux based OS's is a plus.
