The Getty community values differences in the pursuit of inquiry and knowledge, mutual understanding, respect, trust, transparency, and cooperation. We are committed to creating a diverse and welcoming workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve and includes individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Job Summary:

Do you know what it takes to manage web projects, evaluate priorities, find order within complexity, and empower people to do their best work? Do you enjoy working with creative people, passionate developers, and world-famous subject experts? Are you interested in helping to bring the stories behind art, conservation, and the amazing work of Getty to a broad audience? If so, we’d love to talk to you.

Getty is building and extending our web presence—and we need your help to orchestrate the process. We are looking for a project manager to join a team of software engineers and UX designers building on the narrative, interpretive, and visitor-focused digital experiences across the Getty. This team is responsible for the core Getty.edu website and maintains a digital design system that is used across Getty digital properties, including exhibitions, digital publications, among other initiatives.

We’ve partnered with an outside agency to lay the foundation, develop the design system, and built the initial elements of Getty.edu. We are now taking more of the work in-house, and we need to own and improve our internal processes for coordination, scheduling, and communication. We work closely with Getty’s Communications team on content design and information architecture, with outside experts on web accessibility, and continue to partner with external vendors.

The Getty is among the most prestigious cultural heritage organizations in the world, dedicated to furthering the study of the history of art. You will work on an amazing campus amidst fabulous art, architecture, and archives, while working in partnership with world-class scientists, curators, librarians, archivists, and academics. We offer 4 weeks of vacation annually, every other Friday off, excellent benefits, and a very strong dedication to balancing work and personal life.

This job is located in Los Angeles, and the team currently works a hybrid schedule, with one day on-campus and the other days remote.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Your job will be to work closely between the software lead, their team, and the communications team, implementing and improving the process of taking good ideas and turning them into working, well-tested, software that provides user value. You will help the team gather and identify requirements, establish deadlines, coordinate priorities, keep stakeholders informed, triage issues, and communicate progress.  We use JIRA, Github, and Google Docs as our core tools for project management and we follow a loose Kanban methodology.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience

Minimum of 5 years experience overseeing projects and processes for software development

Requirement:

All employees must be fully-vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus as a condition of employment. Exemptions from this requirement as a reasonable accommodation due to medical contraindication, disability or sincerely held religious belief or practice will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required Skills

A deep interest in the work of cultural heritage

Experience with software development project management methodology and tools

Strong communication skills, with the ability to bridge between software developers and stakeholders

Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with a variety of audiences, including the ability to develop positive relationships within a large organization

Preferred Skills

Experience managing contracts and vendor relationships

Knowledge of practices, systems, and metadata standards for museums, archives, and libraries.

Experience with Jira and Kanban

Equal Opportunity Employer:

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
