We are looking for an entrepreneurial and analytical Replenishment Buyer -Food (non-produce) to help us grow Marley Spoon. Responsibility for centralized purchasing for our three Fulfillment Centers in Newark, NJ, Dallas, TX and Tracy, CA. This position has a hybrid work schedule and is based out of NYC with travel to our Newark, NJ Fulfillment Center as needed.
What you will do:
Analyze forecast and sales data together with suppliers’ performance to ensure an efficient inventory replenishment strategy of an assortment of SKUs for daily orders fulfillment while achieving desired weeks on hand, minimum inventory levels and 0% food waste
Generate, track, and manage purchase orders in Marley Spoon’s ERP system, certifying accurate quantities and timely delivery/ receipt in collaboration with three fulfillment centers (FCs) onsite teams
Communicate any inbound delivery delays to fulfilment centers to warrant 100% manufacturing uptime
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure complete and timely delivery of the product; resolve shipping issues, manage forecast and purchase order changes and review monthly/ quarterly supplier scorecards
Work through corrective action plans as needed with the supplier with regular follow-ups
Review, track, reconcile and approve invoices in conformity with the received product
Collaborate with the Sourcing Managers to resolve item and supplier issues where stock and service levels are not being met against the forecast and purchase orders
Maintain a daily inbound receiving schedule and coordinate with suppliers to ensure that all the purchase orders meet the OTD and SSL and communicate any issues to the organization
Work with Receiving and Inventory Teams to ensure purchase orders are received in a timely manner on the assigned delivery dates in the ERP system, and the product is available for production on time
Establish and maintain the supplier database with plan A, B, and C vendors and improve the supplier base by establishing relationships with quality alternative vendors
Work alongside Sourcing Managers on a potential new supplier review and onboarding together with quarterly and yearly supplier reviews.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s Degree a plus), preferably in the STEM field with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a food buyer
Experience with an ERP system and ability to work with large datasets
Knowledge of various food ingredients and their substitutes
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross functionally
Comfort with using KPIs to measure performance and inform course corrections
Ability to react promptly to unforeseen procurement and workforce planning scenarios as they arise
Ability to balance numerous priorities in a fast-paced environment
Results-oriented attitude; able to multi-task and get things done
Willingness to embrace change and adjust quickly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft products and Google suite (intermediate user of Google Sheets/Excel)
Must be willing to travel
