Electrical Solar/Hybrid Design Engineer for African Mining Projects
Salary: £45,000
Description:
Designing and developing projects in Africa presents unique challenges not faced in first world countries. As part of a small design team based between London and Germany, you will be responsible for designing single axis and bi-focal ground mount and rooftop Solar hybrid systems for numerous mining clients in countries such as Madagascar, Nigeria, Kenya, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and design photovoltaic plants and battery storage hybrid systems
- Develop technical concepts and solutions
- Implement PV performance simulations and feasibility analysis with PVSyst
- Select components and equipment
- Create bills of quantities
- Preparation of calculations, parts lists and system designs
- Determine and calculation cable lengths and cross sections
- Detailed planning and drawings with AutoCAD / Helios 3D
- Support the sales team during preliminary engineering
- Participate in Site visits if needed
Essential Skills:
- University degree in electrical engineering
- At least 2 years of experience in the solar PV industry (ground mount and rooftop)
- Strong, multi-skilled individual
- Good knowledge of CAD (Autocad, Civil3D), MS Office applications (Word, Excel), PV-SYST
- Knowledge in electrical design software is a plus(Caddy, E-Plan, digsilent or similar software).
- Experience with Solar Tracking systems
- Experience in fault studies and grid code compliance
- Medium voltage design experience is a plus
- Protection coordination experience
- Experience in hybrid fuel saver distributed generation applications
- Experience with Sketchup
- Experience with Solar Tracking systems
