My client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team at this very exciting time. They plan to invest, grow and transform their business, to provide a better service to customers old and new. In order to do this, their Business Applications team is implementing a new Target Operating Model and has been restructured to support this journey, and this new role forms part of that process.

This role is part of my client's Delivery Leadership Team, it will report into and support the Head of Delivery in day- to-day management of the function. This role will plan, organise, and direct the completion of specific technology workstreams or projects approved by the business. If successful, you will be responsible for ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within agreed scope.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be expected to manage a single large project or multiple smaller projects. There will be two Senior Project Managers, who will jointly own and be responsible for defining and maintaining Business Applications Project Management Standards and ensuring these are aligned with the rest of Technology and corporate standards.

Outstanding influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are essential. As well as the ability to lead and manage a team. This role will have direct line management responsibility of a team of project managers. Ideally you will have experience in matrix management of teams and individuals, creating cross functional teams focused on common objectives.

Key responsibilities:

· Line manage a team of project managers, providing coaching and leadership to optimise their ways of working, enhance collaboration, reduce conflict, and overall reach a higher level of team maturity

· Proactively lead the early initiation of projects with minimal instruction. Turn high level project proposals in to well defined projects, mobilising resources, and establishing the project structures required for successful delivery

· Mobilising project resources, managing the delivery phase, working with workstream partners, including Product Owners, taking early action to address risks and issues and ultimately ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and meet the user requirements.

· Ensuring that projects are transitioned into support with full documentation, handover, and hyper-care arrangements in-line with the agreed Service Transition Standards.

Skills and Experience:

· Experience managing large, complex, and technical IT projects and portfolios with demanding timescales and deadlines. Ideally gained in a similar size organisation or larger. Formal Project management accreditation is essential

· Experience managing, co-ordinating and leading teams of Project Managers across portfolios and programmes. Able to see the bigger picture and ensure that resources and efforts are focused on the most critical issues

· Ability to comprehend technical subjects, including software development and systems architecture, as well as document/translate the basic meaning behind these subjects.

· Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Able and willing to switch between them. Experience using DevOps, Jira, or a similar tool to manage projects throughout the SDLC process is strongly preferred.

· Experience working in a similar size project delivery team. Strong working knowledge and experience with project and programme governance and reporting

· Experience of producing software tenders and evaluating supplier bid responses and in particular direct involvement in OJEU tendering will be advantageous

· Outstanding influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders

· Self-starting. Able to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision. Outcome and result focused
