Job Role: Web Developer
Location: Exeter (office based)
Salary: £28k - £33k p.a
The hours for this role are: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 17:00pm
Purpose of the role
Working within an extensive Marketing Department and reporting to the Senior Web Developer. The role will involve maintaining and enhancing the 20+ current group websites along with supporting other team members in the development of numerous blogs, subsites and social media platforms, ensuring they are in line with current trends, reflecting the latest product developments and promoting our corporate image. In addition, you will be instrumental in the creation of new websites and online platforms in line with company expansion.
Main Responsibilities:
Maintaining the Group’s 20+ websites on a day-to-day basis, including updates to product information and facilitating promotional activities.
Designing and building new websites and web pages with HTML, CSS & JavaScript. With particular consideration given to user experience and consistent company branding.
Ensuring all current and new projects are optimised for multiple mobile device platforms.
Providing regular statistical reports on web traffic and the effectiveness of web advertising, including the management of Google Adword campaigns.
Developing new navigation structures/areas within existing sites in line with consumer needs, retailer support and company strategy
Working with third party suppliers to commission and project manage new websites, or other significant online focussed assignments, as and when required.
Concept generation and development for new Apps inline with marketing strategy.
Working closely with the Group’s IT Department on the delivery of cross-channel projects.
Administration and renewal of domains and SSL certificates.
These are the main functions of the job, but employees may be required to carry out other duties as may be reasonably required.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
A strong appreciation of web usability and accessibility
Experience of planning and commissioning websites advantageous
Experience of specifying and the development of various CMS platforms.
Experience of online marketing communications techniques, including Adwords and social media networks
Experience of online retailing techniques
Proven, solid experience in a website support role
Experience with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks
Experience with Google Analytics
Educated to NVQ level 4 or A-Level equivalent
Detailed knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Demonstrable design flair with working knowledge of Adobe graphic software.
Strong command of PHP development.
Ability to comprehend quickly new technologies and software
Good organisational and communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Team player
Test new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases
Fix bugs in existing projects
Test sites and applications in different browsers and environments
