MS SQL DBA - PARIS, France - Onsite - 500 EUROS PER DAY

A leading international client, paris based office is looking for a full time Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) consultant to join our DBA Team, as soon as possible. Please note that this is an on-site position in our HQ in Paris and there is no option to perform the job remotely on a long-term basis. At the moment, there are current teleworking arrangements in place that allow for split presence (1-2 days on-site and 2-3 teleworking). This may vary in the future and full on-site presence could be required.

Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, possess strong individual and good team player skills and have an ability to follow through tasks and projects from inception to completion. Ability to work within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams as a part of International Organization would be a plus. Fluent spoken/written English is a must.

It is not required to have on-call availability out of working hours. However there are sporadic and planned interventions in out of working hours (estimated at 2-3 hours max per month)

Main Responsibilities

Database Administration and operations

  • Administer the SQL infrastructure, being responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server corporate databases
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from staging to production. Design and implement solutions to automate recurrent deployment tasks or procedures.
  • Configure and maintain database Servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in Real Time.
  • Assist different stakeholders with query tuning and schema refinement to increase performance.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in database technologies. Apply new techniques and trends, in-line with the overall objectives and risk tolerance of the OECD.

Management and Reporting

  • Gather statistics and prepare regular Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on database usage and performance. Document activity to ensure that a proper activity log is maintained up to date.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date database infrastructure, design, and Best Practices documentation.
  • Coordinate with development teams to improve continuous integration processes.
  • Supervise the work of external service providers intervening as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • A university degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Professional Background

  • Proven professional experience designing, implementing and managing a large Microsof SQL infrastructure (all versions).
  • Database migration experience and skills.
  • Experience with analysing performance issues and diagnosing database problems.

Tools

  • Microsoft SQL Server, PowerShell Scripting, Windows Server.
  • Knowledge of database reporting and monitoring tools (eg MS SCOM, Redgate, SquaredUp, PowerBI, MS SSRS etc)
  • Familiarity with Source Control Tools (eg TFS, GitHub)
  • Knowledge of database backup tooling and cloud database management is also desirable.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
  • Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
