Security Engineer/Researcher | Global Electrical Device Manufacturer | WFH, hybrid or office in the EU or Brussels, Belgium | 12 month contract, renewable by contract or permanent - €55 - €65 per hour, negotiable dependent on experience

We're working with a global electrical device manufacturer looking for Security Engineers for their R&D Lab in Brussels, Belgium. Although, the role can be fully remote in the EU. The R&D Lab provides offensive security for the global business, testing consumer and professional devices, as well as online services, with the aim of supporting development teams to build security into their products.


You will join a strong team of offensive security engineers, skilled in performing software attacks, vulnerability hunting, and supporting development teams with mitigations. You will assess security posture of development teams, identify gaps, and support the teams by addressing gaps and implementing security practices. Full scope listed below:

  • Ensure compliance to the company's security policies, standards, and best practices
  • Conduct a gap analysis between the relevant industry security processes and the ones applied in Sony and provide feedback to the company's governance team
  • Review and feedback on security requirements from business units
  • Conduct security architecture reviews (threat modelling) and makes recommendations. Be prepared to take a lead and/or coach where needed
  • Conduct (or closely follow up on a progress of) application security code review and/or pen-testing activities
  • Support in setting up a security tooling framework as a part of the dev team CI
  • Provide a strategic view on how to improve security posture of a given team based on the collaboration with it
  • Collaborate with other security specialists within the company


  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows and its internals
  • Understanding of Embedded system security
  • 5+years of hands-on experience as an engineer, a developer, or a tester in several security related projects
  • Understanding of and experience with secure development life cycle
  • Understanding and usage of threat modelling
  • Risk assessment experience
  • Ability of making security architecture decisions
  • Understanding of common software security issues and remediation techniques
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in the security industry
