Laboratory Technician (non-medical)

We are assisting our client with the following recruitment. UNIQUE Paving Materials is an industry leader in pavement maintenance products manufactured nationwide. We are seeking a LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (non-medical) in our Lab Operations at our manufacturing facility on the east side of Cleveland, OH.

Position Responsibilities:

• Collect, log, and process raw material and final product samples using defined testing procedures.
• Read, understand and be able to independently execute test methods used to analyze aggregate samples, mix samples, emulsions, fuels and asphalt.
• Gather, compare, and transmit test results to production department.
• Maintain and clean all lab equipment and apparatus.
• Maintain, recycle, and replace the storage of samples.
• Observe and participate in all safety programs. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations and properly use all personal protective equipment.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED required. 1-2 years of college in a science major preferred; chemistry major strongly preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in a chemical lab environment preferred.
• Will consider a combination of education and experience.
• General understanding of measures (viscosity, density, etc).
• Knowledge of physical terms and ability to use/convert metric to U.S. systems.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
• Strong basic math aptitude.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to understand and implement test methods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pound product samples (hot and cold) and to retrieve samples from tanks and trucks.
• Ability to use office equipment (copiers, scanners).
• Experience with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable through the company's insurance provider.
