Business Continuity Officer (IT Governance)

The Operational Resilience & Business Continuity Officer is a newly created role that will be paramount to the successful maintenance of the operational resilience and business continuity frameworks. Working as part of the IT Governance team they will support colleagues in the development and maturation of the Information Security function. As a member of the IT Governance team, they are responsible for helping to embed a culture of operational resilience within the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the services that they provide to the business that support.

The business is currently trialling different patterns of home and office working to determine the optimum working arrangements for your role) for the future. During the trial you will work a hybrid working pattern. This means you will work for a minimum of 3 days a week in the office (Swansea).

Supported by the Information Security Manager, you will be:

  • Coordinating the work set out by Operational Resilience projects across the business
  • Maintaining the Operational Resilience Management System (ORMS) and Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) across all operational resilience domains
  • Supporting and leading on delivery of specific elements of the operating model processes including reviews of impact tolerance levels
  • Identifying gaps and making improvements in documentation and processes
  • Facilitating annual test of substitute processes to ensure security of data is maintained, and to confirm that they remain fit for purpose
  • Supporting the provision of management information to several committees and forums
  • Facilitating scenario planning workshops with the Senior Information Management Team
  • Liaising with the Head of IT Operations to ensure that plans are reviewed annually and adequately tested

Experience required:

  • Ability to produce management information and reports to an agreed schedule or upon request
  • Proven communications skills with multiple levels of an organisation, including interaction with senior level business leaders in the company
  • Driven and resourceful, able to achieve goals independently as well as part of a group
  • Strong influencing and relationship management skills, able to build and maintain customer and supplier relationships
  • Excellent project management skills, able to manage multiple high priority tasks and competing priorities
