My client, a renowned name in the aerospace sector is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work with their flight test team in Spain. A specialist in the provision of next-generation aircraft, the scope of the work is to lead the engineering activities for the propulsion system.

The role extends from the unique fan engines to the flap assembly including structural, harness and actuator components. Reporting directly to the program Certification Engineer, you will focus on running a successful flight test campaign; this includes activities such as flight data analysis, following flight approval, providing and optimising maintenance requirements as well as supporting any other adhoc issues that arise from operation of the aircraft.

Your Day to Day:

  • Ensure continuous engineering support during the flight-testing activities for the propulsion system of the prototype aircraft
  • Flight data analysis
  • Maintenance support
  • Support solving any potential issues with the propulsion system, including updating design data as necessary
  • Work on any ad-hoc related projects or tasks

Therefore, I'm ideally seeking candidates that can demonstrate the following skills and expertise:

  • Professional experience in the aerospace industry
  • In-depth understanding of propulsion systems is required
  • Ability to quickly understand and react to arising problems to minimize possible AoG time is absolutely essential
  • Experience with reviewing data sets and drawing conclusions is required
  • Good understanding of electromagnetic actuation is required
  • Good knowledge of a CAD system (preferably NX) is required
  • Basic knowledge of PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is required
  • Good knowledge of ISO GPS (alternatively ASME GD&T) and overall good drafting skills are beneficial
  • Experience with flight testing is beneficial
  • Project management (technical) experience is required
  • Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required
  • Data analysis experience is beneficial
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously if required
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial

Duration: 10 months
Working full time on-site in Spain
