Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:



Under general supervision, using independent judgment, performs a variety of accounting duties as required or assigned according to existing procedures, methods, and systems as a primary job task or as a backup resource which include downloading, reviewing, analyzing and posting of payments from third party providers, posting appropriate entries to ledger accounts, daily balancing and reconciling general ledger accounts.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



Post mortgage loan participation entries



Responsible for overall maintenance of the GL: including opening cash drawers as needed, including for new Team members and ATMs and closing GL’s as needed



Calculate and post month-end accruals



Post student loan, credit card and business loan payments



Post monthly credit card and consumer loan charge-offs



Process iPay exceptions



Post credit card entries daily, including rejected payments



Post indirect lending items



Post HR related journal entries



Work CRM-Accounting Que for account research, etc.…



Post share draft exceptions



Verify and/or upload the ACH indirect and ACH files



Verify outgoing wires



Balance ACH and Pay by Phone



Work in collaboration with other teams to resolve any outstanding items related to key job responsibilities



Prepare assigned reports for the Accounting team that may be used in ALCO and/or Board meetings including loans to officials



Balance assigned general ledger accounts daily or monthly



Report discrepancies immediately to the Accounting and Finance Manager



Research, document and resolve any balancing discrepancies and post appropriate correcting entries to the general ledger



Assist branches and members with inquiries



Maintain updated detailed job procedures, complete required annual training, and remain current on all regulatory requirements



Perform other duties as assigned



Act as the primary backup for the following job tasks:Investor Accounting and Reconciliation (FNMA and FHLMC)



ACH/Cash Accounting Specialist job responsibilities



General ledger reconciliations

All accounting functions and records maintained in a timely and orderly manner in accordance with prescribed standards.  Exception items attended to promptly corrected and posted daily.  All transactions performed correctly and documented as appropriate to nature of transaction



High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required



Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, strongly preferred



Two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience



Ability to maintain confidentiality



Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.



Ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced, changing environment and maintain a commitment to accuracy and timeliness



Ability to write correspondence



Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to members, team leader, and other team members of the organization



Ability to operate a personal computer and other standard office equipment such as fax machine, photocopier, ten key, telephone, and laser printer.  Microsoft application knowledge, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Word is required 



Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals



Ability to effectively manage time as related to tasks



Excellent mathematical skills, accuracy, and basic knowledge of bookkeeping for use in maintaining accounting records is required



Must possess above average interpersonal skills to represent the Credit Union in a positive and courteous manner when dealing with members and all levels of team members



Strong listening skills to effectively determine member needs and resolve member and team member problems



Strong attention to detail
