Salary: up to £33k (depending upon skills and experience), Company van provided plus benefits
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Location: Green Lane, Walsall

South Staffs Water incorporating Cambridge Water are looking for an Instrumentation and Control Systems (ICS) Technician within the Operational Technology (OT) team. The OT team maintain a wide range of instrumentation, automation and telemetry assets that control the abstraction, treatment, distribution and storage of water to 1.6 million customers in the South Staffordshire and Cambridge regions.

As an ICS Technician you will provide front-line response for breakdowns and undertake scheduled works for both corrective and planned maintenance. Reporting to the ICS Support Manager, ICS Technicians are required to have a broad range of skills that enable them to service and maintain OT assets including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), instrumentation, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Remote Telemetry Units (RTU's).

The ability to go online to PLC's for the purpose of fault diagnostics is desirable but training would be considered. A knowledge of Water Treatment Processes would also be an advantage.

The successful candidate will participate in a 1 week in 6 stand-by rota.

A company vehicle will be provided along with any specialised equipment and tools to carry out operational duties.

You will also support the company's drive to continually improve safety standards as you'll be responsible for ensuring all activities are performed in a safe and diligent manner as well as regular feedback on issues arising before, during and following activities that are carried out.

You will be confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills and be capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.


In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have a Full Valid UK Driving License, have served an apprenticeship in a relevant OT discipline, for example instrumentation and hold an NVQ level 3, ONC or higher qualification in a related subject area.
