Contract/Project

This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering outcomes within the Digital department of our major public sector client. The client is based in Newcastle and expects some of the successful candidate's time to be spent on-site.

Our client is on a journey of Digital Transformation of benefit systems into Digital Services using GDS standards. This means a lot of future change for client and the outcomes of this work will support and articulate the department's strategic direction by engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to show what the Operating Model and Channel Strategy of the future will be. This work fits with a broader strategy to automate more processes, make more digital self-service journeys available to citizens and join up the citizen experience across life-stages and benefits.

The desired experience for this role:

  • Senior Product Manager/Owner

  • Senior Business Analyst

  • Public Sector

  • Digital Service Delivery - working in a user centred design way, with teams undertaking digital transformation of government services

  • Strategy development and implementation

  • Operating Model and Organisational Design

  • Change Management

  • Senior stakeholder engagement

  • Running workshops and facilitating strategic discussions of cross-cutting stakeholders including representatives from Policy & Legislation, Operations, Business, Digital, People & Capabilities

  • Clear, purposeful communication at varying levels of detail depending on the audience

A successful candidate is likely to be a Senior Product Manager/Owner or a Senior Business Analyst with experience of working on strategy development as well as service delivery. A significant part of the role is being able to set your own agenda and priorities, work with senior stakeholders, running workshops, with clear, purposeful and confident communication.

The strategy development is a top-down approach that needs a successful candidate to be able to understand and interpret DWP strategy into what that means for the Retirement Bereavement and Care department. It also has bottom-up elements meaning the role must understand and analyse the current delivery plans by working with Product Owners, Delivery Managers and Business Stakeholders, then link those to the strategy development.

Candidates will need to show that they can think and work at strategic and delivery levels of detail and tailor the level to different stakeholders at different times. The role is working with a small team on related outcomes, not a standard multi disciplinary scrum team designing a digital service. However there are several digital service teams in the department who will have input into the outcomes because they are designing the services of the future.
