THE ROLE

The Platform QA Lead has a strong passion for software engineering processes and practises, applied to a quality assurance role. The role requires strategic leadership and quality expertise that can be applied across the entire Xceptor platform portfolio, and the individual is ultimately responsible for the overall platform portfolio quality. The individual must have a proven track record of instilling a QA mindset across highly collaborative Agile teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Overall quality and reliability of platform and supporting assets
  • Ensure processes and technology in place to enable platform teams to improve quality and reliability of software
  • Establish governance processes for collaborating with other teams across business
  • Establish strategies and plans with the wider platform teams to systematically improve the quality of our software and prevent any issues that do make it to live code from happening again.
  • Define, uphold, measure and report on the quality & reliability of our platform across the business and driving continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that each new product release continues to improve the quality and reliability of our software
  • Build and maintain a broad network of contacts across the business to understand the impact our software has to our customers and to the business
  • Work with our SAAS team to understand and future plan for handling quality in a SAAS world
  • Work closely with the SAAS team to understand quality issues arising from our SAAS customers
    • Defects
    • Feature metrics and behavioural data
  • Line manage the quality consultants, setting goals and objectives to drive towards quality improvement of our platform and best practices in our teams
  • Conduct regular one to one sessions with quality consultants and nurture their career paths and training requirements
  • Ensure we future plan for quality resourcing needs, review candidate CVs and conduct interviews

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience gained within a leadership Software Quality Assurance role with a level of test automation experience
  • Experience providing direction, advocating, and coaching teams about QA best practices
  • Demonstratable experience introducing QA mindset across agile teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Strong academic background, a degree in a STEM subject discipline would be beneficial
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Vocal communicator, who can respectably challenge the status-quo
  • Strong technical skill set with desirable knowledge of C#, SQL and XML
