Under the direction of the Vice President of Program Administration, oversees rehabilitation programs such as the Meriden Rehabilitation clinic, Driver Assessment program and the Wallingford Public School Contract. The Director is responsible for the general oversight of all patient care activities, including referral development, patient treatment, communication and reporting statistical record keeping, program development and staff supervision as well as managing the day to day operations of the clinic and other programs. Incumbent is employed by Access Rehab.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: OPERATIONS • Develops and maintains statistics regarding visits and productivity

• Manages a patient caseload

• Implement relevant and appropriate safety practices by reviewing, developing, and initiating drills and procedures necessary to ensure the welfare of patients and staff.

• Monitors staff productivity; report to the President.

• Process staff time sheets/cards, maintain statistics on staff attendance.

• Assist in referral development by screening for potential patients and collaborating with nurse liaisons, site managers, case managers, and other appropriate individuals to obtain or facilitate referrals.

• Perform Marketing contacts with physicians, program managers, and other appropriate individuals as identified jointly with the President.

• Verify annual staff licensures i.e. DPH license.

• Perform other related duties as required.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT • Work collaboratively with Administrative Director, Adult Programs on budget preparation and expense management. Control operating expenses in compliance with budget. Provide continuous analysis and reports on variations from established budgets.

• Responsible for the planning and preparation of revenue and expense projections covering all financial and human resource costs consumed by assigned areas including, capital equipment, operating budgets, personnel budgets and other expenses. Monitors and regulates all expenditures to achieve established budgetary goals.

• Plan, organize and direct work of subordinate unit; define expectations and deliverables; establish procedures, practices, and standards; hire staff appropriate to the position; monitor deliverables and productivity; identify and address deficiencies.

• Recommend, implement, and communicate operating policies and procedures to all subordinates on an on-going basis.

• Through collaboration, develop and recommend best practices; oversee implementation of practices and programs. Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement of services provided. Encourage positive response to new opportunities, new technology and changes in not-for-profit.

STAFF MANAGEMENT • Sets high but attainable standards and demanding expectations for self and subordinates to continuously challenge the current standards. Develop performance plans for all direct reports.

• Provide individual and business unit performance feedback to subordinates on a regular and timely basis through day to day conversation and formal performance reviews in accordance with Easterseals guidelines.

• Responsible for establishing a "Team" culture and using a variety of motivational techniques to encourage ownership of staff in the business.

• Recommend compensation actions consistent with organizational guidelines.

• Address and resolve employee relations' issues in a timely manner and institute appropriate measures to correct issues in consultation with Human Resources.

• Provides training consistent with current and future job requirements. Function as mentor/preceptor for staff members through lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and coaching. Foster an environment conducive to on-going learning and education.

QUALITY & COMPLIANCE • Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures and the organization's Purpose Statement.

• Maintain knowledge of and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and includes information in ongoing employee education.

• Participate in the development and implementation of new programs, protocols, and processes.

• Review patient charts for quality assurance to determine appropriateness of therapeutics components.

• Perform quarterly review of charts and report results of chart reviews at staff meeting.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT • Customer Service. Maintain a professional, courteous, and positive manner with all contacts.

STRATEGIC PLANNING • Participate in the development and implementation of strategic business and operational financial plans for assigned areas.

• Responsible for continuously assessing current operations to determine the need to expand, contract or eliminate current product lines based on changing market conditions and presenting sound and well-supported recommendations to his or her supervisor.

COMMUNITY/PUBLIC IMAGE • Maintain and enhance the image of the organization with municipal agencies and the general public through active participation in community and industry affairs; encourage subordinates to participate actively in local, state, and national affairs, as they pertain to the organization.

• Must be knowledgeable of the current market conditions and competitor strategies and react to any changes that could impact market share and/or negatively impact customer relations.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES • This position may be authorized to have access to protected Health Information (PHI) to perform specific job duties. • Requires initiative, dependability and conscientiousness in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Understanding of the physical, psychological, social and vocational needs of patients. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Effective leadership abilities, good judgement, and professional demeanor. • Any employee employed by Easterseals after September 27, 2021, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have received the first dose and have the second dose scheduled (in a 2-dose series) or may apply for a medical or religious exemption. Employees with an approved exemption will be required to test weekly.

EDUCATION Minimum of a Bachelor's degree plus appropriate clinical internships in an allied health profession.

EXPERIENCE Minimum of two years' experience required as a licensed Physical Therapist. At least one year of management experience required.
