Reports to: Director of IT
Location: Nottingham
Salary: up to £42,500 p/a
Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Nottingham.

Main Purpose

As a member of the IT leadership team, you will be responsible for co-ordinating and reporting on the IT project portfolio. This will include ensuring that projects are planned and managed effectively using good practice and also the direct running of some project.

You will be responsible for owning and governing the project portfolio and developing the project management practices for the college as well as running some projects directly.

You will need to work with staff from across the Directorate to ensure effective communication is in place, standards are upheld, and documentation is maintained and shared.

Role Objectives

Monitor and maintain the college's IT project portfolio.
Ensure that all projects are appropriately documented in terms of risks, assumption, issues, dependencies.
Design, implement and encourage good practice at the college regarding project management including agile methods.
Plan and estimate workload, resources, and timescales required to complete all projects.
Engage and communicate with stakeholders and customers throughout project delivery.
Be the recognised expert in terms of project management best practice.
Ensure that all of the IT projects are managed appropriately as a programme or within the portfolio.
Design and document project management methodologies, standards and procedures as required.
Provide training and information for staff on best practice project management techniques.
Develop and promote working towards best practice by developing the skills of others.
Report on progress of the portfolio and mitigate and risks/issues
Empower relevant colleagues to handle routine tasks.
Communicate in a professional and effective manner using plain language, which is understood by the client and avoiding 'jargon' as much as possible.
