One of our longest standing clients are looking for a Technical Manager to join their team based in Kent.

As Technical Manager you will be joining a driven team but with a supportive, friendly and fun atmosphere.

What you will need for the role

Assist as requested with strategic land acquisitions and planning applications, including strategic technical studies, negotiating with Statutory Authorities, instructing Consultants and obtaining/vetting their reports
Assist with the preparation of the technical fee for the developments or phases in cooperation with the project team, incorporating known and perceived risk factors to the project
Input into the review of the Commencement Appraisal with other stakeholders and assist in the preparation of technical reports, fee schedules and technical information release schedule as required
Liaison with the commercial team and consultants so as to provide continuous value engineering of design concepts and proposals
Monitoring design changes so as to continuously identify the status of costs
Procurement of all design consultants for the development in accordance with the company requirements and objectives
Develop robust technical designs, working with both the commercial and build team to ensure cost plan and programme objectives are achieved
Set up and maintain a proper document control system via SharePoint for design information
Ensure that Sub-Contractor design elements are fully coordinated with the design and drawings are checked and approved for construction
Ensure all site queries and RFI's relating to the design are responded to within agreed timescales
Update technical fee schedules and reconcile against CODA at the end of each month for the cost report meetings
Maintain Technical Information release schedule and ensure that it is delivered against
Check consultant's drawings and ensure that they are properly uploaded to Sharepoint
Ensure that invoices are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with the agreed fee white card
Provide information to the Sales & Marketing department including dimensioned floor plans and elevations for translation into Sales Brochures. Check for accuracy prior to going to print
Ensure the negotiation and completion of appropriate legal agreements with statutory Authorities necessary for the proper technical requirements of a site, such as Section 38, 278 agreements
Be responsible for 3rd Party negotiations such as Party Wall Awards, Build Over Agreements, footpath closures and hoarding licences
Prepare applications and payments for utilities applications including temporary builders supplies
Ensure Building Regulations. Planning Conditions and Warranty provider condition are discharged
Maintain a general awareness of current material and construction research and making recommendations or giving warnings as appropriate

Skills and Education

HND/HNC in Building Studies/Construction or Architectural equivalent
Excellent level of IT literacy with experience of AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel & Word
Experience gained as either Senior Technical Coordinator or Technical Manager with UK house builder
Thorough understanding of Planning Legislation
Construction Design & Management Regulations
Good level of communication skills, with the necessity to liaise with internal staff and external bodies
Strong level of organisation and work management
Good time management and to adhere to deadlines.
Ability to solve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
