Role Title:

Data Scientist.

A unique opportunity to be at the tip of the spear of a digital transformation in the energy markets.

The Role:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience applying a range of machine learning models to a diverse set of data. You should enjoy moving beyond the theoretic confines of academia to applying your tradecraft in the real world and producing data driven products that will be used by significant players in the energy markets. The ideal candidate is precise and detail oriented.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Building & training virtual trading agents for energy markets, possibly using reinforcement learning.

  • Modelling decentralized energy grid (microgrid) scenarios.

  • Stress testing machine learning models.

  • Integrating analyses, data, and business processes by incorporating data science solutions in our applications.

  • Clearly and objectively communicate results, as well as their associated uncertainties and limitations

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience in data science/machine learning in a mix of academic research and practical application. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in multi agent systems.

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field

  • Programming expertise in Python (iPython, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas), with experience in Tensorflow and Pytorch

  • Strong statistical knowledge and intuition, especially for applying analysis to real data

  • Interest in energy markets

  • Excellent personal organization and ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks

  • Comfortable to work independently

  • Must work effectively & collaboratively in a dynamic development environment

Technologies we like:

  • Advanced statistics & statistical programming language like Python.

  • Python and specifically Numpy, SciPy & Pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Theano

Good to have experience:

  • Research publication or working towards one.

  • Ability to help a team to make realistic and achievable delivery commitments

  • Ability to handle a high pressure environment
