Post-doctoral fellowships are open for highly motivated PhD/MD scientists to join the Cardiac Signaling Lab in Departments of Pharmacology and Biomedical Engineering,
University of California - Davis, USA.
The post-docs will join an interdisciplinary team to develop state-of-the-art technologies and to investigate heart diseases in a stimulating and collaborative environment. The experimental researchers and mathematical modelers led by Drs. Ye Chen-Izu and Leighton Izu work closely to decipher how the heart functions as a smart pump that autoregulates cardiac output in response to physiological load changes, but fails under pathological conditions such as high blood pressure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or dilated cardiomyopathy to cause cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.
PhD/MD with training in cellular electrophysiology or cardiac excitation-contraction.
The research will focus on how the heart autoregulates cardiac muscle function in response to mechanical load changes in health and heart diseases.
• PhD in engineering (or bioengineering, biophysics) with expertise in optical imaging instrumentation and image analysis software. We will develop new High-Content and High-Throughput Cardiotoxicity Screening imaging system for drug R&D. Post-docs are encouraged to have broad curiosity, independent thinking, and confidence to explore new frontiers. We are committed to helping fellows to apply for grants, build professional networks, and advance their research careers.
