Head of Operational Technology & Transformation - Worthing, West Sussex/Initially 100% Remote

£75,000 - £80,000 (DOE) - package of over £100,000 inc car allowance & generous benefits (+ potential excellent over-time rates) - Worthing, West Sussex

A leading technology strong professional services company seek an experienced individual with excellent working practice with driving operational technology (OT), change and transformation within a large scale environment - this role will suit a Head of Operational Technology & Transformation or a heavy hitting senior manager, who can influence and drive their team and environment forward - having a good balance of Operational Technology and Business Change/Transformation experience is key.

You will be involved in an exciting IT transformation which will strategically change the way it delivers IT support and services to its business and end users. To help support this strategic initiative, a new IT Application Services team is being introduced, which will become the single point of contact for all end users requiring IT Application implementation, enhancement, support and services.

As the Head of Operational Technology & Transformation, you will help to devise and deliver the overall strategy in the short and long term. The role will be expected to liaise with the Strategy & Architecture, Service delivery and project delivery counterparts, to ensure that the applications are supported & projects are delivered to the highest standards.

Core skills/experience required for the Head of Operational Technology & Transformation:

  • Excellent grounding within Operational Technology team management.
  • Experience from within the Utilities, Telecoms/fibre or network digitisation sectors would be an advantage - any industry that utilises SCADA/Telemetry technology an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SCADA/Telemetry/Smart technologies or applications a bonus.
  • Experience of managing a 24/7 operational set up is important.
  • Ability to drive change and transformation, make decisions quickly, but intelligently and influence your teams to manage and impact the change/transformation.
  • Experience of working with teams covering: Operations/Project & Programme Managers/Architects/Developers etc
  • Ability to deliver key changes, drive strategy and have new ideas and influence these in the correct manner.

The responsibilities for the Head of Operational Technology & Transformation:

  • To manage the Operational Technology and Telemetry team.
  • Oversee the management of Operational Technology and Telemetry application patch/release/upgrade/replacement implementation on the organisations OT/IT ecosystem.
  • Manage (via the OT team) Operational Technology and Telemetry application efficiency including focus on OT and Telemetry tools.
  • Manage the support of the system release Management life cycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for multiple Operational Technology and Telemetry applications across portfolios. The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, Projects and Programs.

The accountabilities for the Head of Operational Technology & Transformation:

  • Operational: Responsible for implementation of Digital and Integration application management and release strategy aligned with overall IT working practices.
  • Any knowledge of Telemetry/Scada technology or sectors.
  • Day to day: Managing daily management of applications availability aligned with SLA's and OLA's agreed for the respective system. Producing management reports for weekly reviews. Delivering zero unplanned downtime on applications.
  • Team Management: Performing team management and direction setting for team aligned with SLA/OLA targets. Working closely with service management team on application support.
  • Project: Support project teams in Loading, manipulating and maintaining data, maintain patch and version levels.
  • Quality: Defining and implementing system quality assurance practices and procedures.

Further responsibilities for the Head of Operational Technology & Transformation:

  • Managing the corporate application support team in delivering SLA and OLA's agreed aligned with overall ITOM ( IT operating model).
  • Define and build corporate applications tools required for application service management.
    Work closely with architecture and business demand teams to identify the rationalisation opportunities and execute with help from delivery team.

Knowledge/experience required for the Head of Operational Technology & Transformation:

  • Knowledge and experience in Operational Technology and ideally Telemetry application technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing a complex system ecosystem with varied applications, both off the shelf and customised.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing system releases via BAU and emergency changes.
  • Good understanding of telecom infrastructures and relation with OT/Telemetry systems.
  • Experienced team manager managing a team of application specialists.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Digital and Integration products and development framework with a proven track record of standing up a system database services from scratch.
  • Ability to organise and manage a team of application administrators and specialists.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management toolsets, including Knowledge Base & Configuration Management.
