Location: Fulbourn Road, Cambridge with some travel to Green Lane, Walsall

At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. We have an exciting opportunity for a full time temporary Catchment Advisor to help drive water quality and environmental benefits in the Cambridge Water region, through identification and delivery of key activities, working with local landowners and environmental partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver Catchment Measures scheme(s) in the CAM region.
• Liaison with landowners/farmers and managing internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing Environment & Biodiversity schemes
• Assist Senior advisor in delivery of our catchment management scheme in our catchments.
• Collate & analyse data to inform this programme and present results and agree outcomes with stakeholders.
• Plan and undertake advice visits to farmers/landowners.
• Manage relationships with key catchment contacts and attend catchment meetings/workshops
• Report against our compliance with our regulatory requirements to the Environment Agency
• Report on progress of statutory measures and objectives
• Liaise with other companies and any other stakeholders in the Cam Ely Ouse as required.
• Research best practice and maintain updated with changes in farming legislation.
• Undertake site investigations in the region to evaluate the risk of invasive species and opportunities for improvements related to priority species.
• Co-ordinate river restoration and improvement projects

You will have knowledge of environmental schemes, best practice habitat and biodiversity legislation, as well as knowledge/experience of farming practices, on farm advice and pesticide use. Experience of working with EA or similar regulatory environment would also be beneficial, as well as some knowledge of BASIS /PA1 an advantage.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in a related discipline, possess a logical scientific approach, as well as be numerically adept and able to develop and use spreadsheet and other analytical tools such as GIS and spatial data. It is essential that the successful candidate possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, can prepare clear and concise reports and presentations, as well as confident in working collaboratively with stakeholders. You will also be able to work independently, be organised and able to meet tight deadlines. A full driving licence is essential.
