Gearset is Cambridge’s fastest growing startup, rocketing from 7 people in 2017 to over 100 today. We build a cutting-edge DevOps solution for the millions of developers building applications on Salesforce, the world's biggest enterprise PaaS. In a few short years, Gearset has become the DevOps solution of choice for some of the world’s biggest companies, including IBM, McKesson, and even Salesforce themselves.
From the start, we’ve focused on creating high quality content to help our customers master the complex world of Salesforce DevOps, and we’ve built a reputation for technical thought leadership in the community.
What’s the opportunity?
We’re looking for a Technical Author to join our Customer Success team. This is a new role at Gearset which blends deep technical knowledge of our platform and the Salesforce ecosystem with top-notch written and communication skills. Working in a cross-functional team of developers, salespeople, and marketers, your goal will be to help thousands of Salesforce professionals learn the intricacies of DevOps best practices by distilling complex technical topics into elegant and engaging content. You’ll own content generation end to end, from initial ideation through to delivery, creating material that enhances our position as experts in our field.
Working at Gearset, you will:
* Own the development and maintenance of our existing product documentation and support content
* Work closely with the customer success and marketing teams to help create in-depth technical documentation such as e-books, whitepapers and presentations on the wider topic of DevOps
* Repurpose our wide range of existing content, such as whitepapers, into a more learning-centric format
* Work with our engineering team to understand new product features and develop appropriate content to support them
* Support our wider team in writing effective website copy and in-app messaging
* Support new Gearset staff in building their technical knowledge through creating custom onboarding and training material
You’ll be a good fit if you have:
* A bachelor's degree or equivalent direct work experience
* The ability to understand and distil complex technical topics into their fundamental concepts
* Prior experience as a technical author / writer for software products
* Fantastic written communication with an ability to write elegant and engaging content that appeals to a technical audience
* Proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail
* An eye for verbal consistency and an appreciation of tone and style
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* A can-do attitude with a focus on delighting users and continually learning
A little about our benefits:
* You'll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in our Cambridge office.
* Salary is £32k-38k, depending on experience
* Bupa health care
* Flexible working hours
* Free lunch / Deliveroo
If you are able to distil complex technical information into beautiful, reader friendly prose then please submit your CV, and complete a covering letter explaining how your skills and experience would make you a great Technical Author with Gearset
