My Shropshire based client is looking for a developer who has a strong range of skills applicable to our requirements below and has experience in application development to support our ongoing software development to move to all web-based products. The role comes with 26 days holiday, PMI once probation is past, Life insurance if criteria is met. It is a predominantly office based role however for the right candidate flexibility may be possible.

Purpose of the Job:

To write, update and maintain bespoke in-house software to specification using modern industry good practice programming skills. You will work in a supportive highly skilled IT team on a range of projects which require a diverse skillset.

Around 50% of your time will be spent on re-development projects with the remaining time spent addressing changes and update to existing software


• Support existing software systems to support the business

• Ensuring programming follows best practice

• Managing support requests from internal users

• Troubleshooting technical software issues

• Re-develop legacy products into modern software with new features


The candidate must be highly experienced, confident, and versatile programmer. The person must be eager for learning and development, who can work in small development teams to deliver software IT projects in a timely manner.

Our main business management software systems are heavily based around SQL with stored procedures which then feed a range of systems. You will be responsible for supporting and delivering updated web-based systems whilst able to maintain the legacy system alongside until its completed.

You must have the right to work in the UK.


• Supporting colleagues in maintaining a large range of windows desktop and web-based software systems for the Cattle Information Service.

• Maintaining and developing a custom-built business management software which use Access on the front end with MS SQL for the back end.


• Degree educated or equivalent in a computer science / web technologies related field.

• Over 5 years programming maintaining legacy systems with strong skills programming in Microsoft SQL,, and using tools like Visual Studio.


• Microsoft Access


• Visual Studio




• C#

• API’s (Restful / SOAP)
