What you will be doing
We are looking for a Technical Author who will be responsible for writing technical and operational specifications for 2 procurements.

The first specification will be focused on creating a specification on operational processes that take place within the Water Network, namely minor capital projects, programmes, jobs and activities. The second procurement is focused on creating a specification for traffic management which will include standards, procedures and regulations.

Everything will need to be pulled together to create a specification that represents high-quality outcomes by following best practice processes and industry recognised procedures.

You will also be:

A part of the Water Networks Transform Programme Team
Interviewing and collaborating with key business SME’s to collect information, processes, standards with respect to the scope of works to be procured
Writing up notes of interviews in a structured way and recirculate to the SMEs for comment
Supporting SME’s by working with the Asset Standards team to ensure the inclusion of key standards into the specification document
Producing user-friendly specifications to be used as part of a competitive procurement process
Inquisitive and probing when interviewing, with thorough attention to detailTo be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

Have the ability to convey factual and technical information clearly and concisely and write documentation to explain it to the reader in an accessible ad relatable way (in this case, bidders who will be responding to a procurement)
Written specifications and/or operational manuals before
Experience in working directly with technical and operational teams in operational businesses
Ability to manage own workload to meet all deadlines, and proactively reports the status of tracking progress towards delivering the overall goal
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organised and structured
Curiosity, ability to probe
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
