A widely recognised retail business with a turnover in the region of £10m are looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant within their finance team. Operating across various locations, the company employees approximately 150 staff and this position will be based at their Head Office in the heart of Cumbria.
Your New Role as Assistant Accountant:
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will gain excellent exposure to all areas of finance in a hands on and business facing position. Specific duties will include:
• Management of purchase ledger and sales ledger
• Supporting in month end requirements and management accounting processes
• Bank reconciliations
• Reconciliation of online payment platforms and accounts for retail
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Updating cash flow forecasts
• Maintenance of the fixed asset register
• Accruals, prepayments and journal posting
• Supporting in the year end audit process
You will also be required to work cross-functionally, liaising with other departments to deliver and advise on financial information, being their first point of contact for any finance related queries.
Experience & Qualifications Required to Apply:
To be considered, you will be competent in all transactional accounting activities, ideally with some experience in month end/management accounting duties although training and support will be provided in this area. AAT qualification is desirable and study support will be available if the successful candidate wishes to pursue CIMA/ACCA study. You will be a competent IT user with good Excel ability and knowledge of Navision is advantageous but not essential.
