Manager of Visitor Attraction. Historic, recently restored Japanese Garden

We are looking to recruit a Manager with previous (assistant or full) managerial experience at a visitor attraction. Manager will report to the Trustees of Cowden Garden SCIO; a charity formed to restore and maintain the historic and beautiful Japanese Garden in Clackmannanshire, which is open to the public, (37,000 visitors to date in 2021).

Start date: 4th January 2022. Interviews may be conducted via Zoom. The manager will have responsibility for staff and visitors, with emphasis on the following duties:

Staffing: Interviews, contracts, inductions, rota's, starter and leaver documentation, training, weekly meetings, duty sheets. Duty cover (whilst garden is open).

Visitors: sales and daily organisation to ensure smooth running of site, overseeing head of Education & Outreach and head of Events re: group bookings.

Shop, Plant Sales and Tearoom: management of front of house, kitchen, tea room and gift shop (ordering).

Garden Team and Site Security: Liaising with Garden team to include site security and maintenance.

General: Promotion of garden, record keeping for trustees incl. fundraising and grants. Checking invoices for payment. Additional record keeping: insurance, Health & Safety, site maintenance etc.

Website/Newsletters/Supporters: Updates (in house), blog, sales. Overseeing quarterly newsletter, social media and regular email updates.

An understanding of finance and/or bookkeeping experience would be an added bonus (bookkeeper works off site).
