The Company:

Our client is an established international name in their industry with over 50 years of experience in their field of manufacturing household brands and products for various manufactuirng industries including chemicals and food & beverage. We are presently seeking an Engineering Manager for this client to lead all engineering activities at their growing Liverpool site, reporting into the Plant Manager.

Purpose of the Role

The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering delivery strategy of our cleint's Liverpool plant, and join a network of engineering excellence, sharing engineering and maintenance best practice to strengthen our position as an industry leader across the business.

In this role the Engineering Manager will provide effective leadership for a multi-functional team providing optimised maintenance solutions as well as delivering capital and OPEX projects to sustain efficient, reliable, and compliant assets.

Additional accountabilities include:

Shaping, implementing, and managing the maintenance and capital expenditure of capital budgets for the plant to achieve business targets including supplier optimisation.
Safeguard safety and effectiveness of processes and equipment, enhancing performance and service cost and quality.
Compliance against all relevant legislative and company requirements.
Effective team management and development, offering transparency and clear communication to drive performance.
To collaboratively work with the engineering and production teams to implement improvement initiatives and capital investment throughout Manufacturing.
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental, COSHH and all other UK legislation on all improvements and capital projects
To supervise and manage agreed budgets and capital expenditure specific to your area of control.
Strengthen the staff through encouragement, support and reviews of the staff to continuously improve their performance setting clear and challenging goals and objectives, with set timescales.
Manage site wide engineering projects specific to the plant and service support.
Manage, drive and maximise output and plant efficiencies to and beyond budgeted levels by maximising the potential of the people, plant and time available.
Manage and evaluate systems to measure and monitor energy usage.
Implement, manage and review action plans exist for energy reduction.
Continuously monitor wastage levels throughout the production process taking immediate action to minimise wastage levels through improvement initiatives, innovation and people involvement through process improvement team.
Ensure full legal compliance to auditor standards and requirements within the job holders remit and manage corrective actions plans to ensure effective resolution
Skills & Qualifications Required

Strong experience of managing manufacturing plant maintenance and engineering projects
Chemical or similar Continuous Process industry along with Food & Beverage / FMCG / Packaging industries preferred but not essential
Excellent people management skills, able to influence and improve engineering team through effective leadership and motivation skills
Experience of modern engineering improvement techniques
Experience of environmental compliance and control
High degree of integrity
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Decisive, pro-active and assertive
Internal customer driven
Ability to demonstrate working under initiative and think things through to solution
IT literate – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Training/Qualifications Essential

Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline preferred, or strong relevant experience in lieu with apprenticeship / HNC.
Appropriate Technical Qualification, apprentice trained
Lean Manufacturing / CI Training / expertise
IT literate – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good analytical and numeric ability
